ARTHUR LIN
I met with Arthur to talk writing, dating, and all things vague.
Your articles all follow a social theme. Have you always been socially aware growing up?
I don’t know if I’ve ever described myself as socially aware before. I suppose I would like to think that I am, but I guess I’m socially aware within my own little bubble. If you place me in a situation outside of my comfort zone it would be interesting to see if I would still be socially aware, knowing how to react to everything in the right way. I try to understand different people’s viewpoints, even if it’s not something that I agree with but I’m still very true to my own thoughts and feelings. I think part of being socially aware is being able to just express that and just be yourself. If you do that you can’t really lose.
In The D Word. you talked about depression. Is it fair to say that our careful curation of social media profiles have the ability to stop us from opening up about depression?
